The Lee County Animal Shelter, which is located in Georgia, is encouraging people to adopt a pet for the holidays. The shelter will be open on Saturdays in a few weeks. Staff members stated that many people are unable to come to the shelter because of their work schedule. They are hoping that more people will come in when the shelter opens on Saturdays.
The shelter currently has 12 dogs and 20 cats. Last year, there were 40 animals that were adopted during the holidays. Jackie Grigg is the Lee County animal control officer. She stated that people should adopt a pet from a shelter instead of buying one from the pet store.
There are many animals at the shelter who are in need of good homes. A shelter is also the best place to find a pet. Furthermore, adopting an animal from a shelter helps ensure that they will be able to live a happy and healthy life. The shelter will be open on Saturdays starting November 11, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All of the animals that are available for adoption are spayed and neutered. They are also microchipped and up-to-date on their vaccinations.
Adult male and female dogs cost $122. Male puppies that are under the age of 9 months cost $85. Female puppies cost $85. Adult female cats cost $75. Adult male cat cost $65.
