Once in a while, a story comes along that touches the heart. When it comes to animals, it seems that these stories are even more touching. Today, a Michigan veterinary hospital posted a story about how one golden retriever got the transformation of a lifetime.
Talia Cancilliari Longton adopted a special needs dog. It would have been so easy for her just to adopt a puppy that was perfectly healthy, but Angel stole her heart. The pup had difficulty walking. She drug her back two legs with every step. It was apparent that she had a stroke or some damage that made her legs unusable.
Watching her scoot around by her front paws was agonizing for Longton. Since she was a nurse in pediatric neurosurgery and orthopedics, she knew that something must be wrong, and she just couldn’t look the other way. She was prepared for the worst, but she hoped for the best.
The staff at the Michigan hospital decided that it was a misalignment issue. Even dogs can have problems with their spinal column. Chiropractic care for pets is a somewhat unheard of thing, but some vets are turning to a more holistic approach. Angel had two adjustments, and she is now walking and almost as good as new.
On top of the spinal manipulations, they also used some holistic medications and cold laser therapy. Now, Angel can run and play and is learning to overcome the condition that left her near paralyzed. This dog might have never got where she is today if someone didn’t take a chance on her. Longton saved her life.
